Developmental Milestones 

  • Enjoys playmates and will begin to play cooperatively with others. 
  • It is normal to have imaginary friends. 
  • Speech is almost always understandable. 
  • Can usually count from one to 10. 
  • Can walk on tiptoes, climb a ladder, and ride a tricycle. 
  • Holds and uses a pencil with good control. 
  • Can draw a person with a face, arms, and legs. 

Parenting Tips 

  • Maintain a consistent bedtime routine. Using a night light, security blanket, or a toy are ways to help lessen nighttime fears. Reading to your child each night before bed is a calming bedtime routine. 
  • Allow your child to participate in setting and cleaning up the table. 
  • Provide your child with clear limits and an explanation of the consequences if rules are broken. 
  • Use kind words and attention to encourage positive behavior.
