Lesson 2: The Power of Kind Words – Updated

Lesson Objectives

  • Recognize that hurtful words are not safe and kind words can help others feel safe.
  • Demonstrate assertive body language and tone of voice.
  • Identify safe grown-ups you trust and can tell when you need help.
  • Build confidence using the Stand Strong • Stay Safe Rules

Materials & Preparation

  • Puppets: Panda, Puppy, and Bunny.
  • Playdough, Styrofoam, or shoe box to hold puppets.
  • Stand Strong • Stay Safe Rules Poster.
  • Lamb Happy Face – copy onto standard sheet of paper and attach it to a Popsicle stick or pencil for easy crumpling. (Refer to the video on the
    Lesson 2 portal for a refresher.)
  • Prepare kind words chart or write on board.
  • Home Connection 2, one for each student to take home.
