1. Caring
- Lesson 2
- Learn about the power of kind words to help each other stay safe and mentally healthy.
- Panda, Puppy, and the students in the class show caring by practicing kind words to help Lamb.
- Lesson 4
- Panda shows caring by helping Puppy get help with an unsafe situation.
2. Fairness
- Lesson 1
- Bunny will not share the crayons, so Panda and Puppy can’t finish their work. Panda and Puppy need to be assertive to solve the problem and get what they need, and Bunny learns to share.
3. Respect
- Lesson 1
- Learn to respond assertively, which protects yourself and others.
- Respect and defend yourself with assertiveness: “Stop, I don’t like that.”
- Lesson 2
- When words are used to hurt others, respond assertively to ensure respect for yourself and others; this applies to those who are hurt as well as bystanders.
- Understand that your choices affect others’ feelings.
4. Responsibility
- Lesson 1
- Learn to take responsibility for how your words and actions affect others. This includes responsibility for your words/actions in response to someone’s hurtful behavior.
- Lesson 2
- Bunny recognizes that Bunny’s words were hurtful and tries to make amends.
- Practice recognizing the impact of kind versus hurtful words on others.
4. Trustworthiness
- Lesson 3
- Recognize that Fox uses tricky behavior to create an unsafe situation for Panda through the “touch-me game.”
- Learn that keeping secrets is not safe.
- Identify safe grown-ups you trust who can help you stay safe.
- Lesson 4
- Recognize that Tiger was not honest or trustworthy, which put Panda and Puppy in an unsafe situation.
- It is trustworthy to report unsafe behavior.
6. Citizenship
- Lesson 1
- Learn to use assertiveness to stand up for others in your community.
- Lesson 2
- Practice standing up for a friend who is being hurt with words.
- Lesson 3 & 4
- Discuss reporting hurtful behavior to a safe grown-up you trust to keep yourself and others safe. Tiger and Fox need help treating children safely, and reporting their behavior is the first step.
