Why do kids need to learn parenting skills? Prevention is key.
To become empathetic individuals today and nurturing parents tomorrow.
Most students leave high school with no training or education in this area. According to the 2014 Data Book, there were over 30,000 suspected victims of child abuse and neglect in the Houston area. Ineffective and abusive parenting are significant contributing factors to many social and health problems, including:
- Substance abuse
- Delinquency and crime
- Poor academic performance
- Teen pregnancy
- Emotional disturbance (depression, irritability, aggression)
Without education, the cycle of dysfunctional parenting and abuse will only continue to plague our communities. Our Parenting Education classes can prevent this.
ChildBuilders recognizes the importance of nurturing parenting and the lifelong impact that it has on a child’s ability to succeed. By giving students an opportunity to learn nurturing parenting skills, behaviors and attitudes – we are helping to make a difference for generations to come.
ChildBuilders’ Parenting Education program teaches students about healthy child development, as well as communication skills, non-violent conflict resolution and positive behavior management.
